For those of us who likes to plan ahead, here is the list of holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2014 (Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation no. 655, Series of 2013) :
The celebration of the Islamic Holidays for Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha will also be non-working holidays but a different proclamation is issued by the President for these holidays as the exact date is determined by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos based on the sighting of the moon. The website infoplease.com has estimated the dates of these holidays on :
July 28, 2014 - Eid'l Fitir
October 4, 2014 - Eid'l Adha.
Another Islamic Holiday, the Mawlid al-Nabi (Muhammad's Birthday), is going to be celebrated soon on January 13, 2014. During Mawlid al-Nabi, all Muslims in government service in the Philippines are excused from work without being marked absent pursuant to Civil Service Commission Resolution No. 81-1277. The 1st paragraph of the said resolution says that, "1. During the (1) Eid-ul-Fir (Hariraya Puasa); (2) Eid-ul-Adha (Hariraya Haji); (3) Maulod-en-Nabi; (4) Lailatul Isra Wal miraj; (5) Muharram; and (6) Amon Jaded, Muslims are free from office work the whole day of these holidays without being marked absent." The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos in its Resolution No. 002-2012 has requested all government agencies to comply with the aforementioned Civil Service Commission Resolution No. 81-1277.
Enjoy the holidays !
